Eastbourne & Online
Hello, I’m Katie I am delighted to be part of the Youth Fairy team, offering solution focused therapy to children and young people from my practice in Eastbourne.
I’m super passionate about helping children and young people understand how their amazing brains work, develop resilience, build confidence and learn lifelong strategies to manage challenges. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing a young person realise they are stronger, more capable and more resilient than they first believed.
My Approach
I work with children aged 6+ to young adults and tailor my approach to meet the unique needs of each young person. I have experience supporting children and young people with disabilities, additional needs and those who are neurodivergent. I am committed to creating a safe, inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and respected, and I am proud to be an LGBTQ+ friendly therapist.
What I love most about Solution Focused Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy is that it focuses on strengths, solutions and positive change rather than excessively dwelling on past problems. By combining an understanding of how the brain works with practical strategies and relaxation through Clinical Hypnosis, it helps people feel calmer, more confident and better equipped to cope with life’s challenges.
I have seen the positive impact it can have, both personally and professionally, and I am continually inspired by the progress and transformation it can help people achieve.
What I enjoy most is working one-to-one and in small groups (in schools), where I can really get to know each individual and create a supportive, positive environment in which they can thrive. My aim is always to provide a safe, supportive and encouraging space where young people can focus on their strengths, discover their potential and move forward with confidence.
A Bit About Me
Before becoming a child therapist I spent over 20 years working with children, young people and adults in education, supporting learners from the age of 6 through to adulthood in both primary and English language school settings. Throughout my career, I have been passionate about helping people build confidence, overcome challenges and reach their potential.
My interest in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy is both professional and personal. As a teenager, following an accident, I experienced severe anxiety and panic attacks myself. I understand first-hand how overwhelming anxiety can feel and how much it can affect everyday life. This experience gives me a genuine understanding of the challenges many young people face and a deep belief that things can get better.
As a parent, I also know how difficult it can be to watch your child struggle with mental health challenges and feel unsure how best to help. When my own daughter experienced anxiety and panic attacks, Solution Focused Hypnotherapy gave her practical tools, understanding and confidence that helped her recover quickly. Most importantly, it provided her with skills and knowledge that she can continue to use throughout her life whenever she needs them.
Next Steps
Before beginning any sessions, I offer a free, initial consultation, either in person or online, so you and your child can meet me, ask questions and get a feel for how I work.
During the consultation, I’ll explain how the brain works (in a child friendly way) to create their particular struggles and how this can influence thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Understanding this is often a real lightbulb moment for children and young people, helping them make sense of their experiences and feel more involved in the therapeutic process.
Many parents find this understanding just as valuable, as it helps them better understand not only what their child is experiencing but how they can support he therapeutic process at home as well.
