Hove & Online

I was recently told that if you find a job you love, you’ll never have to work a day in your life and it truly is a privilege to be working with children, supporting them with their well-being and helping to impact on their future in such a positive way.

I offer a free, initial consultation face to face in Hove or online, which is an opportunity for you and your child to meet me and discuss what they would like to achieve –  their best hopes. My calm, warm and friendly persona will help them feel at ease and I’m confident with adapting my approach to suit the individual needs of each child.

Part of the therapeutic process involves me helping them (and parents) to understand how their brain works to create their particular struggles such as anxiety, stress, anger or emotional control and what we can do about it.  This is a really helpful part of the process as it enables them to see that they have a level of control over their well-being and how to develop more positive, healthy habits for life.

I’m also super passionate about the solution focused approach to therapy –  the fact that children focus on how they WANT things to be and work towards those positive behaviour changes, rather than having to re-visit trauma and excessively dwell on problems, is really very empowering.

I have a wealth of experience working with children and teens, including those with special educational needs over the last 30 years, starting out as a nursery nurse with a lively bunch of pre-schoolers. From there I moved on to work as a T.A in a school for children with severe learning difficulties before advancing to lead T.A at the FE College for 16-19 year olds focusing on developing independence and functions skills.

One of my proudest achievements includes being part of a project to set up a new and unique college for young adults teaching life skills. I’ve also supported a number of children with a variety of needs as a respite carer for the Children’s Charity Barnardo’s.

Alongside running my private therapy practice I continue to support young adults with Autism in their home, working with their families to provide them with stimulating and meaningful experiences that support their individual interests and abilities.

I am trained in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy, Counselling Skills and hold an enhanced DBS certificate. I’m fully insured and bound by the Code of Ethics of the professional associations I am a member of, including:

  • National Board of Modern Psychotherapy (NBMP)
  • The National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH)
  • The Association for Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (AfSFH)
  • Complimentary & Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC)

I am a mum of 2 and have lived in Hove for a number of years. My children attended local schools and I have good links in the area. I love to be outside, swimming in the sea or camping with family and friends.
