Hi, I’m Katie Rose, therapist at The Youth Fairy and I specialise in working with children and families to bring about real and positive change.

Originally from California (you may hear a slight twang in my accent), I have lived and worked as a primary school teacher in England for the past 20 years, eventually specialising in the Early Years and moving into senior leadership.

It was within teaching where I began to realise that improving children’s mental health, addressing their personal struggles on a one-to-one basis, meant that they were more able to learn and be generally happier in the classroom. It became my mission to train in a type of therapy that could help children to reach their individual best through personalised focused engagement with a therapist.

I work with young people, from ages 5 right up to 20, to help them to deal with stress, anxiety, OCD or depression, am experienced working with Neurodiversity and I also have a particular interest in the areas of trauma, grief, social anxiety and school anxiety.

My approach to working with children is caring and thoughtful as well as playful and creative, because it is my belief that children learn best when they are happy and relaxed. Building meaningful positive rapport with your child is paramount to seeing positive change and forms the basis of my child centred approach. As well as explaining the brain in child friendly terms, I will be sharing in your child’s strengths and positives each week.

It’s incredible to see a child taking the steps that lead to forming a long-lasting positive mindset, confidence and general well-being as they develop within the framework of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy.  I will use a range of techniques as well as being flexible and spontaneous to encourage the best possible outcomes for your child, and at the appropriate age level for your young person.

I am fully insured, hold an enhanced DBS check and am registered with:

  • National Board for Modern Psychotherapy (NBMP)
  • Association For Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (AFSFH)
  • National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH)
  • Complementary and Natural Health Council (CNHC)

Being a Youth Fairy also means that I attend regular supervision and CPD which focuses primarily on improving my skills and abilities in working with children and families.

The most profound thing happens when children become aware of the progress that they can make, their whole demeanour changes and they begin to believe in themselves again. If we can help a child to see their strengths and to celebrate their positivity together, I believe we can make a real difference to their lives. It is my belief that anything is possible, and I am here to facilitate that in young people.
